God that's depressing. Wasn't The Rock originally thought to be the next Arnold Schwarzenegger? Now he's only in really bad childen's movies with lots of physical comedy.

I never saw him becoming as big as Arnold, because as big as Rock was when he left wrestling, and as much charisma as he has, he's still not as good as Schwarzenegger in either category. Arnold might be the most charismatic actor ever. But I thought he would certainly be a big star, just on a lesser level.
His wrestling career made it hard for him to get great roles, but I noticed in all the reviews for his early stuff, he would usually get praise from critics, even if they hated the film.
His problem is that Disney came calling, and the short term boost of being with them is starting to take it's toll. I'm sure he's being paid very well for each film, enough where he won't have to come back to wrestling. But the more films he makes like this, the harder he's making it for him to succede long term as an actor. When his deal with Disney dries up, he's going to have to explain to producers why they should take him seriously when he has stuff like "Tooth Fairy" on his resume.
The sad thing is that these films trump Hogan's films in terms of embarassment. Stuff like Mr. Nanny and Suburban Commando have two things going for them; looking back on them now, it's easier to forgive them because people tend to be nostalgic about stuff from that era. They are lame films, but harmless. The other thing is Hogan was making his films on the cheap, people knew they were nothing movies. Rock's films are getting major promotion all over the country thanks to the Disney machine, which means more people will be looking at this trailer and saying "what the hell happened to the Rock?"

Could you imagine what "the Rock" the character from 10 years back would have to say about this film? LOL

"Jingle All The Way"

A guy called "Tooth" who doesn't believe in the Tooth Fairy becomes the Tooth Fairy. The irony!
I actually remember in an Oprah interview from at least 10 years ago, Schwarzenegger said he was offered a role to play a Tooth Fairy. I guess it went into developmental hell for a long time until they casted The Rock instead.

"I'm the tooth fairy! Oh yeah!"
Gold! Y'all are just giving Rocky a hard time.

That actually looks pretty good. Julie Andrews and Billy Crystal could really make this movie work.

Sorry... The Rock is laughing all the way to the bank.
Race to Witch Moutain? #1 box office
Game Plan? #1 box office
Tooth Fairy? Trifecta.
He doesnt need wrestling. And the stuff he did during the AE was as cheesy as this stuff was.
You dont like his movies, dont go see them. I dont either but I will not begrudge his success. Im sure some parents... and thier 2.2 kids will. Im sure he wont lose any sleep.
And if you think Disney is gonna dry up soon? That would be a negative. Them using Rock might, but Im sure somebody will pick him up, and even if he doesnt get picked up, he has way more money than a lot of wrestlers.
No big deal

The Rock is evolving into a kid's movie specialist, I say good for him it's nice to see him develope a niche for himself.
In time I'm sure he will move on to more serious roles. All he is trying to do is get rid of the stigma wrestling left on him.
Go Rocky Go!

Arnold is about as charismatic as a piece of cheese on an unsalted cracker.

Rock has had hit and miss movies so far. I liked 'southland tales'.
My Daughter LOVES 'gameplan' and can't wait to see 'tooth fairy'.
Rock is laughing all the way to the bank.

I've loved everything the Rock's been in, but I'll probably have to skip this one. Maybe if I had a kid or something, but I'll just have to wait for his next role... what happened to that animated movie he was supposed to be in?

The Rock is awesome. Would you prefer that he make "The Marine" or whatever suckfest Steve Austin was last in? He's smart, which is why he was so successful in wrestling. He was smart enough to avoid politics, drugs and moves that cause injuries. He was smart enough to be the best promo in the sport since Ric Flair. He was smart to leave when he did. He was smart to make typical action movies like the Rundown to cut his teethm then move to things like Be Cool and the Gridiron Gang. Now he's a huge-bank star with Wictch Mountain and the Game Plan.
The man is headlining a cast that included Julie Andrews, Ashley Judd and Billy Freaking Crystal. And you want to call him a loser? You think his career hasn't gone anywhere?
The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, is a fantastic actor and a smart guy. I respect what he did in wrestling and I respect what he is doing in Hollywood.
